It's Autumn in Alaska... An Alaska Poodle's Favorite Season
Fall time in Alaska has a tendency to sneak up on me. It seems to arrive each year on a day in August.. Some years it’s early, other years it’s a bit late. But one thing I know as an Alaskan; if I’m paying attention to the subtle signs, I’ll never miss the “unofficial,” but true, first day of Fall in Alaska.
This year, I think Fall arrived almost smack dab in the middle of the month.
I know my poodles can feel the change in season too. They don’t look at a calendar or mark the day on a smart phone, but they sense the changes in the air…
It’s the way the light angles itself in the trees of my forests. It’s in the deep pink of the blooms on the fireweed, right before the leaves turn red and the flowers turn to white puffs, giving away the inspiration for the plant’s name. It’s the shade of green in the leaves of the trees, no longer deep green but not yet yellow. It’s in the way, even on a warm sunny day, everything just feels a little more cozy.
Fall in Alaska. In all the world, this is my favorite time and place to be with my poodles.
Everything just feels right
