Puppies’ first field trip!!
Bush planes are a big deal in Alaska. I grew up on a private airstrip, surrounded by pilots and planes. It was never much of a big deal to me until I got older and realized that not every state in the union operated with bush planes as a main mode of transportation
But because these puppies are Alaska poodles, and because they are adventure poodles with the majority having forever homes here in the state, visiting a hangar and a bush plane as part of their socialization work was a must.
I loaded the pups up and headed to my childhood home where the puppies got to meet the famous Red Bird, my father’s bush plane that has saved many a man and landed in many a precarious area. This plane is legendary. And to me, it’s Home
The puppies didn’t miss a beat! They rode in the car like champs. They got out of the crates of their own volition. They played on my parents’ property and entered the hangar without hesitation.
My dad was even impressed with this litter. And my dad is not one to be easily impressed!
I am so happy with the success of today’s field trip! I’ve been putting in so much work with these puppies, and to see the results of that work in these confident, enrichment seeking puppies on their first big field trip… my heart exploded
The program I’ve followed for YEARS, with every single puppy that has come into my house, is called Puppy Culture. It was a joy to do this program with Sojourner as a singleton. And now to be able to do the program with a large litter of 9, right from birth… fantastic!
The proof is in the puppies. And I’m so proud of my little crew!
